Willys Jeep Auctions - Willys MB, Ford GPW and Willys CJ Did you know that more than 640,000 Willys Jeeps were produced during World War II?
Only the half of them were actually manufactured by the Willys-Overland Motors company and the rest of Willys were contracted to Ford Motor Company because Willys could not keep up with production demand. Those ones produced by the Willys company were named as "Willys MB" and the Ford version of Willys was named as "Ford GPW", with the "W" referring to the "Willys" licensed design. After the war, Willys-Overland Company continued to make Willys with its CJ (Civilian Jeep) versions. These Willys CJ models were some of the first mass-produced 4x4 civilian vehicles ever.
